Chicago White Sox closer Liam Hendricks (34) has been fighting cancer.
On the 9th (Korean time), Hendrix announced on his Instagram that he had a non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of malignant lymphoma, and firmly expressed his will to recover and return early.
In 2021, when he transferred to the White Sox, he won the title by winning 38 saves. Even in the 2022 season, he recorded 4 wins, 4 losses and 37 saves in 58 games (57⅔ innings) last year with an earned run average of 2.81. He has played 12 years in the major 안전놀이터 leagues, recording 471 games, 31 wins, 34 losses, 115 saves, and an earned run average of 3.81.
Hendricks said, “I will fully recover from cancer and return to the mound as soon as possible. I know that I can overcome the disease,” revealing his strong will to return.
Hendricks is expected to have a hard time competing this year as he has been battling cancer. In addition, it seems that he will not be able to participate in the WBC Australia representative.
He had already participated as the WBC Australia representative in 2009, so he was likely to join the Australian national team in the 5th tournament to be held in March. Australia is placed in the same group as Korea and Japan in the first round.
