“He’s only four years older than Joris, are you really going to sign him?” English media slams Tottenham for targeting ‘WC star + Europa League winner’ GK
Tottenham are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper. They’ve reportedly made an offer, but the only stumbling block is his age.
According to British outlet The Boot Room on Tuesday, Tottenham have made a bid for Moroccan international and ‘World Cup star’ goalkeeper Yacine Bono (32, Sevilla), with a modest transfer fee and the addition of Brian Hill, who has been on loan at Sevilla this season.
‘The Boot Room’ reports that “Sevilla have rejected Tottenham’s offer. They want a transfer fee of between £26 million and £30 million,” explained The Boot Room. It was not disclosed how much Spurs were asking for Hill.
For Tottenham, signing a goalkeeper is not an option.
Their current number one, 36-year-old Hugo Lloris, is simply not up to the task. His form has been on the decline since the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Russia, which concluded last December.
Yoris is under contract with Tottenham until 2024. The Spurs need to find his replacement as soon as possible. Time is running out.

The goalkeeper is under contract with Sevilla until 2025.
The former Atletico Madrid player had a rocky start to his professional career in 2014. He joined Sevilla on loan from Girona until 2019, when he became a permanent fixture. Last season, he won the Samora award, which is given to the best goalkeeper in La Liga.
He was also a member of Sevilla’s Europa League-winning squad this season, after his stunning saves at last year’s World Cup in Qatar helped Morocco reach the last four.
However, ‘The Boot Room’ raised questions. The publication said: “Spurs need to find a goalkeeper who fits into their long-term plans. Bono’s age of 32 could be a stumbling block. He’s only four years older than Yoris,” the publication pointed out.
“If Tottenham want a goalkeeper who will be in the team’s net for the next 10 years, they should sign a goalkeeper in his mid-20s.”
