‘8 innings, 112 pitches, no runs’ Hanwha’s monster outing, Sanchez’s day off, clinches 6-game sweep…LG Electronics to win series

Hanwha defeated LG behind an eight-inning, 112-pitch no-hitter by foreign pitcher Ricardo Sanchez. Hanwha continued its 100 percent winning formula with a six-game sweep on Sanchez’s day.

Hanwha completed a 7-0 sweep of LG in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Hanwha Life Eagles Park in Daejeon on Tuesday.

Starting pitcher Sanchez threw 112 pitches over eight innings to earn his third win of the season, extending his unbeaten streak to six starts. Kim Tae-yeon also celebrated her birthday, going 2-for-3 with a home run and a walk.

Tenth-ranked Hanwha, which secured the winning series with its second straight victory over LG following a 6-5 walk-off win the previous day (Sept. 9), improved to 21-32-3. Second-place LG, which has lost three straight, is 33-23-2.

Sanchez completely shut down the LG bats. He pitched eight innings of two-hit ball with eight strikeouts and two walks to earn his third win of the season and lower his ERA from 1.85 to 1.39. After retiring left-handers Moon Bo-kyung and Shin Min-jae on consecutive pitches to end the second and third innings, Sanchez struck out three straight batters in the fourth and fifth innings. He had thrown 51 pitches by the fifth inning.

In the sixth, shortstop Lee Do-yoon reached on a throwing error, but Sanchez got Moon Sung-joo to fly out to center field to end the inning. Following a triple play in the seventh, he struck out Lee Jae-won and Kim Min-sung, who came to bat with runners on first and second in the eighth to keep the home fans on their feet, especially his 112th pitch of the game against the last batter, Kim Min-sung, which was measured at 151 kilometers.

The Hanwha bats supported Sanchez in the first inning. Against LG starter Lee Min-ho, Lee Jin-young drew a walk, Noh Si-hwan singled to left and Chae Eun-sung singled to left to open the scoring.

In the second inning, Moon Hyun-bin singled to right and Lee Jin-young doubled to left-center, followed by Kim Tae-yeon’s two-run homer to left. Lee pulled a 143-kilometer fastball from Min-ho over the left field fence. The distance was 120 meters, his second home run of the season 먹튀검증.

A sudden downpour halted the LG offense for 43 minutes in the third inning, but Hanwha’s momentum continued in the fourth. Moon Hyun-bin doubled to right and Lee Do-yoon followed with a sacrifice bunt to load the bases with one out. Kim Tae-yeon, celebrating her birthday, went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and a walk, while Noh Si-hwan and Moon Hyun-bin each had two multi-hit games and Lee Jin-young, batting leadoff, went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a walk.

For LG, starter Lee Min-ho suffered his second loss of the season after giving up five runs on seven hits (one home run) in five innings with four walks and three strikeouts. Oh Ji-hwan paced the offense with a two-hit multi-hit performance, but was unable to prevent the loss.
